There is a story I know well...it is about a girl sitting in her dorm room, searching AOL instant messenger for someone to talk to while she was waiting for her friends to finish finals. She randomly clicked on DMWMED, not knowing if it was a boy or girl, just knowing from the profile that the person was from Austin and liked basketball. The person responded, and they chatted online for a little while. This person turned out to be male, and he seemed normal and pretty funny, and come to find out he was in Lubbock too...what are the odds?? Internet dating sites weren't in existence back then, and she remembered the story her mom told her about some girl getting abducted after meeting someone online. However, there was
something about this DMWMED that she liked. She sent him her picture online, and he countered with a color copy of his Texas Tech ID in the mail a few days later. They chatted online again before leaving for Christmas break. While home for the holidays, the girl found out that her grandpa used to work with DMWMED's dad at UT, and he thought he was a great guy. When the girl returned to her dorm after break, she logged into her AOL account, and up popped his screen name. They chatted again that night, he called Wednesday night, and they went out for the first time Friday, January 21, 2000 (
she made sure her friends got a positive ID on the guy in case she didn't return later that night). She knew she liked him instantly, from his
BoUnCy walk to his cute dimple when he smiled. She liked him more when he took her to see
Next Friday because it was exactly the movie she would've picked. She liked him even more when they ran into some other med students at Outback, and he said he wasn't interested in talking to them because all they ever wanted to talk about was cardiac output. And she liked him the most when he joked about how he would've taken her to McDonald's had he not liked her during the movie. He was
exactly what she had imagined for herself.
They were a perfect match... and today they celebrate their
7th wedding anniversary.
OK, so I wouldn't have believed this story had it not been my own. Who knew that playing around on the internet would've led to such a fulfilling relationship? No seven year itch here, folks. I think I love Dave more with each passing year. We've had our share of ups and downs like any couple, but we've always worked things out together. I'm proud of us, and I'm proud that I can share our relationship with you through the same medium by which it started! :)
Seven Reasons I LOVE Dave:
7. He kicks butt at carnival games.
6. He chose Radiology as a specialty so he could have a life outside of work.
5.He is a loyal friend.
4. He always has my back during stressful situations.
3.He'll pose for ridiculous pictures.
2. He thinks I'm beautiful, even when I look like this:
1. Every decision he makes is based on what is best for US, not him.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US! DMWMED + B90VRG = 4-ever

I thought my favorite picture was going to be the "will potty for pumpkins", but that behind the scene shot of you in the delivery room should be framed with that same exact caption!
AAAHHHH! I totally forgot! Congratulations. Hope it was wonderful.
Love you both,
Sara
p.s. I'm freaking out a little bit right now...that was SEVEN YEARS ago?
