Our visit to the North Pole (according to Aubrey)

We went to the Temple Mall earlier this evening to visit Santa. Aubrey did great. She hopped up onto Santa's lap and told him she wants a kitchen for Christmas. We even had to make another quick stop before leaving the mall so she could tell him bye. She then asked me a little later when we were going to visit the "North Pole" again. She loves the man in the big, red suit!

Addy, on the other hand...

was a little scared of the big, red suit. Ho, ho, ho...Merry Christmas! :)

Addy's 1st birthday party

Addy turns one on Thanksgiving this year, so we celebrated her birthday this past weekend. I kept thinking my camera wasn't working because all the pictures seemed blurry. I'm a genius---Dave cleaned the lens after the party and now the pictures are crystal clear. Other than that and a minor cupcake problem, the celebration was a big hit! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

House divided

The annual TTU-UT football game was this past weekend. AS you can tell from the pictures, Dave absolutely has Aubrey brainwashed. Everytime I told her to put her guns up, she said Hook Em! Oh well, maybe I can convince Addy to take my side. :)

Funny story...

Dave gets the girls ready every morning. Well, the other morning when I was dropping them off at school, some of the ladies were laughing about how wet Addy had been the day before. I knew she must've wet herself because I picked her up the day before in her 6-9 month replacement clothes from earlier this year (for perspective, she is probably wearing 18 months now). Well, they said that the morning before Addy's teacher noticed that Addy was really, really wet. She took her over to the changing table, the whole time wondering why in the world the kid was so wet. She unbuttoned her overalls, unbuttoned her onesie underneath, and went to change her diaper. It was then that she figured out why she was so wet. My husband, the doctor, had failed to put a diaper on the kid. I swear. Anyway, I guess since he is so bright, they want to keep him at S&W. He just found out that he is going to be working at the new S&W hospital in RR.

To Lubbock and beyond.....

Whoa! Today is my first day back to work after our extremely long road trip! Dave had interviews in Lubbock and San Angelo, so we left last Wednesday and returned last night, just in time for gymnastics. It was a great trip, and the girls were awesome. Mimi came along for the ride, and she helped out tremendously with the girls. I had real estate tours in both places, and Dave and I had to attend dinner two different nights. Other than having to choke down peach cobbler ( I have a thing about warm fruit), the meetings went well. We are more confused than ever about where to go, so much that we haven't quite talked about the events of the trip. We had a lot to process, and it is much different now that we have little ones to think about during this transition. Speaking of little ones, watch yours in parking lots. Aubrey came very close to getting hit by a truck in the hotel parking lot. It was ridiculously scary, especially since the guy wouldn't have seen her had Dave not yelled her name as loud as he could. It made me thankful for my babies and my family; no matter where we end up, we will always have each other. Enjoy the pics! Just click on "view all images" to see the slide show. Love, jenn

Out of the mouths of babes...

Aubrey kept telling me how she played with Mickey Mouse during her computer class. She has been talking about her new "puter" class since she started, and I kept thinking that maybe she played a computer game with Mickey. However, last night I finally realized that she was talking about the actual mouse on the computer.

Also, she was wearing her Crocs last night, and I guess they are getting too small. She said, "I think it's time to take these to Goodwill."

Her director at school had surgery on Monday, so when we were putting together a little gift for her last week I asked Aubrey what she liked about Ms. Kim. She replied, "her face". When I asked her what she liked about Ms. Kim's face, she replied, "it's happy". That is why I love her daycare.

Whether it's the tone of her voice or her expression while saying it, it's almost everyday that Aubrey says something that makes me laugh.

gymnastics

I have been amazed at Aubrey's excitement over gymnastics. It is crazy to think that all gymnasts start out as little toddlers running around in a gym somewhere. My photography skills were less than par the other night, but I was trying to keep Addy off the equipment while I was snapping pictures.

Catching up on posts...

Lots has happened recently.
1) Uncle Bink had his first varsity Homecoming game, and my mom made the girls mums for the occasion. It was pretty funny!

2) Dave passed his written board exam! I knew he would, but it is always a great day when you receive the offical word. Now, according to Michelene, I am one step closer to being an official doctor's wife. No comment.

3) We are leaving for good ole West Texas next Wednesday. Dave has actual, real life job interviews. We might be moving back to Raiderland, Go Tech!

4) Aubrey started PCKidz at school, and she can't stop talking about her "puter" class.

5) I caught the "locker thief" redhanded at school yesterday. Two points for Jenn. That little kid is sneaky.

That is all I can think of at the moment, but I will update more later. Have a great day!

Splish splash

This baby loves taking a bath! She was cracking up last night, and I thought it was so funny that I grabbed my camera. Enjoy!

Marissa's wedding

Dave and I spent the weekend in El Paso at my friend, Marissa's, wedding. I had a great time catching up with my old TTU buddies and meeting some awesome new people. I love weddings! Congrats Riss, I love you!

Uncle Bink's first varsity game!

My brother, Clay, is 10 years younger than me. I told my parents years ago that if they kept calling him "Bink", they would still be calling him that when he was playing varsity football someday...looks like I was right! :) Aubrey and Adelyn adore their Uncle Bink, and we all had a great time at the game last night. Aubrey was very sad that she couldn't talk to him at the end, but we were able to snap a great picture! Isn't he cute? :)

Summer is coming to an end...

With my last true day of summer vacation, I spent the morning in Salado with a friend of mine. She snapped pictures of the girls, and I have to say I think she did an excellent job! It was definitely a Texas summer day because we were all sweating like crazy when we left, but we were able to capture some sweet images of the girls.

You never know what to expect!

SIX FLAGS PICTURES FROM A FEW WEEKS AGO:

AFTER A LONG DAY OF SOCIALIZING

BECCA'S SHOWER PICS (she's 32 weeks pregnant!):

There are moments as a parent when you are so proud of how your child is acting. For example, we went to Six Flags a few weeks back. Aubrey did such a great job riding the kiddie rides by herself (we're working on independence), and she was so concerned about how hot Addy was getting. Then there are times when they totally surprise you with their behavior. She totally lost it in the car when she realized we had left and she hadn't met Scooby. She took her Croc off of her foot and ripped it, ripped it like a grown up would rip something. She would not let up, and I was honestly relieved that we were the only ones who had to witness her temper. Example #2- We went to a baby shower today, and Aubrey was excellent. She was patient, and she helped my old college roommate open her presents for her new little one. She was so sweet. Then we had a one year old's birthday party to attend. I thought she was fine outside playing with the other little kids, so I ventured inside to talk to some people. When I returned outside, Aubrey was YELLING that she liked Mia more than Hank. Apparently, Hank and Aubrey were having a minor disagreement over the water hose. We got that settled, so I returned to the air conditioned living room. A few minutes later, a friend came in to tell me that Aubrey had hiked her leg up and peed (yes, like a dog), on one of the kid's lawn chairs. Wow, that sweet moment from earlier became a distant memory as I returned to the kiddie pool to discuss proper bathroom etiquette to my three year old. I am posting some pictures from the day, as well as some catch up pictures from this summer. It's almost over, boohooo! Enjoy!
