outtakes...
I knew it might not be a great photo session when it started like this...

Addy happy because she got to hold him...

Mommy wanted to change poses...girls just wanted to pick out a pumpkin...Mommy just wanted them to smile the right way...girls just wanted to pick out a pumpkin...

Addy refusing to look at the camera...and making a really goofy face...

Aubrey thought Blake was falling...

and finally, Mommy was done...and we spent the rest of the time picking out the perfect pumpkin!

oh boy.

It has been a rollercoaster around here since this little guy entered our lives! I left the hospital the day after he was born, and I figured out quickly that life doesn't slow down when you bring home number three! I cried for the first 3 days out of pure exhaustion, and I was really wishing I had stayed an extra night in the hospital just to mentally prepare for coming home. However, after those initial few days, we all started to fall into a decent routine and I started feeling better. It's amazing how just 5 hours of sleep can make you feel like a new person! Blake is doing great! He has already been to his first birthday party in Temple, to a dance class with his sister, to a movie (Zombieland) with his mommy and daddy, to Target with mommy and her friend, and to various restaurants around town. However, this past Thursday, Aubrey came home from school with a 102.4 fever most likely attributed to swine flu since other kids in her class tested positive for it. Since then we've pretty much been homebound, more specifically confined to my room while Aubrey watches cartoons on the living room couch. I am terrified that the illness is not gone and we are all going to get sick at some point, but so far we've been ok. Knock on wood. She is home again today because she still had a fever this morning. Other than that, we've been doing fine and we're looking forward to everyone being healthy again so we can get back into a normal routine! Well, from the sound of that squirt, I think I'm needed in the diaper changing station... I'll update later with more pictures.

one week ago today....
I was here:
My induction was going smoothly and contractions weren't too painful yet:
Doctor said he would come in and break my water at noon. It broke on its own at 11:45. Shortly after that, I asked for IV drugs:
Big mistake. I was so out of it. Shortly after the girls left the room, I told Dave I needed to poop. Like NOW...I insisted on getting out of the bed and went so far as to try to stand up and pull the cords out of the monitors so I could walk to the toilet...he and my mom insisted I lay down and they called the nurse. I told her the same thing...I have to poop, it's coming out, it's coming out....just poop on the table she says. So I give up all dignity and try. Nothing comes out. She leaves. Doctor comes in. I'm 6-7 cm. A little bit of time passes, things are still a blur. But I still know one thing, I have to poop....no, wait...I think the baby is coming...Dave, Dave, he's coming, HE'S COMING!!! Nurses come, Doctor comes sprinting in, table gets lifted, I ask is there a head down there? They say yes. Lights are on, this thing is a GO...did I mention I didn't get an epidural? Freak, Freak, DOUBLE FREAK! I still have all the pain AND I'm completely out of it because of the IV drugs....OWWW...it BURNS, it HURTS, it BURNS, is he coming out???
A few choice four letter words, an apology for blurting those out, doctor tells me I can say whatever I need to say...a little screaming, and then AAAHHHH....thank you GOD!
1:14 PM, 7 lbs 11.5 oz, 19 1/4 in long.
and perfect in every way.
