quote of the day

As we were driving by the Round Rock Cemetery earlier, Adelyn said from the backseat, "MOM!!  What are those trucks doing in the grave garden?"  Not sure how she came up with that one, maybe the flowers by the graves?  It is catchy, though.  Kinda gives it a positive spin.

Oh, and one other short one...I left Blake on the bed before changing his diaper and I ran to get the thermometer.  As I was walking away, I said "I need to take your temperature in your booty before I change your diaper".  He literally sat straight up and said "Huuuuhhhh??"  It was HILARIOUS, especially since I had no clue he would even understand what I was saying.  He survived it.  99.8 though, after three doses of Tylenol today!

blog neglect

we have been battling illness around here this week, trying to keep everyone healthy!  plus making some pretty major life decisions.  forgive me, blog.  highlights from the week...Blake started talking a little more!  holy cow, I never thought it would happen.  he and Addy let a balloon go outside the other day and he was very upset.  he has told everyone who comes to the house this week, "balloon go bye-bye", with a sad little face.  My brother, Kody, has a best friend, Anthony.  Anthony grew up down the street from my parents and his parents still live there.  he and his wife had a precious baby girl this week, and the Kohl fam went to see her.  she is so sweet!!  we survived Great Wolf Lodge.  I think it would be an awesome place for older kids...Aubrey enjoyed it the most out of our three.  Dave and his dad left for Vegas last night on a man trip.  I am so excited they get to spend the next couple of days together, it will be a good break for both of them.  my brother stayed with me last night and my dad is staying tonight.  love my family.  they take care of me.  :)  Dave booked us a trip to Maine for the summer.  we have never been there, so we are excited.  we'll be gone for 12 days!  with the kids!  whoa, baby!  Dave and I had date night at Alamo Drafthouse and went to see This Means War.  It was a great movie for guys and girls,  so I would definitely recommend you see it!

Precious baby girl!!  Kinley Nicole
Blake was sick the first day of our trip.  bummer!
"Uncle" Kody and sweet baby Kinley!
Mimi thinking, "aawww, Jenn, can't you just have ONE more??"
My first thought when I saw this was "I wish I had a sister".
GO see it!  Super cute.

bathing beauties

Tonight was the last night of swim lessons.  Aubrey passed.  Adelyn did not.  She just can't seem to get her limbs moving in the right direction.  However, she gained some confidence and had some fun.  I am pretty sure she could dog paddle to the side of the pool if she fell in, so I'd call it a success!  Ha!
ps-I tried to upload videos of them jumping in, but for some reason they aren't working.  sad face.

so much for that killer workout...

little man needs some snuggle time.
poor little guy has never been sick, so he's not sure how to handle himself!!
there's always tomorrow.
I am using this time to daydream about vacation destinations....where is your favorite place to visit?  or somewhere you want to go?  Call me crazy, but I LOVE traveling with the kids.  Yes, it can be stressful at times, but there is nothing like seeing their excitement when we get to a new place.  What is your favorite kid-friendly vacation spot?

I heart Valentine's Day

Not really for myself, but to spread love to others.
I had so much fun with the kids' Valentine treats this year!!
Aubrey and Adelyn's {Thank you, Pinterest, for this one!!}:
that's a bouncy ball and conversation hearts in there...
Blake's class {thought these were adorable for two year olds!}:
Teacher gifts:
note pad from dollar tree, heart paper clips were only 10 cents/pack at a Michael's clearance a while back...
Pei Wei gift card
adorable boxes of fortune cookies from dollar tree + cute label
finished product:

While I was at it, I went ahead and put together a little treat for Aubrey and Adelyn's swim class:

The kids had heart shaped muffins and little Valentine gifts to open this morning.  They were so sweet all day.  Must have been the pounds of sugar they inhaled.

I didn't come out empty-handed...I scored these super adorable TOMS from my love.
And now I am putting my feet up for the night!  I am going to need lots of rest for my super intense workout I plan on doing in the morning to work off the 8,942 calories I consumed today....I am hoping it wasn't that many...I am honestly not sure.  ha!  I hope you all had a fabulous day!

Tasty Tuesday

I made this: Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball
Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball Recipe
Very easy, great for parties!

I want to make this: 5 Ingredient Peanut Butter Granola Bars
Post image for Quick and Easy Peanut Butter Granola Bars via How Sweet It Is
These look yummy!  How can you go wrong with these ingredients??  I would love to not have to buy bulk granola bars at the store.  The kids can finish off a regular box in a day!!

I went to eat here: Gino's Italian Restaurant

Great salad & Dave loved the Chicken Parmesan.  Also, the combination of spices they put in the olive oil for bread dipping is awesome!

I want to go eat here: Ms. P's Electric Cock

I won't lie, I only want to go there because of its name.

UT vs. Tech

We took the girls to a basketball game on Saturday night.  Game was lame {UT won by a lot}.  Highlight for the girls: Dippin' Dots.  Highlight for me: getting to see my fabulous friend, Karen!  {and four dollar Mexican martinis at El Mercado before the game}.  Funny story: If UT wins, then everyone gets Pluckers coupons for five free wings.  A little bit after the game started, Karen's little girl looked at the scoreboard and told Karen, "We're DEFINITELY getting Pluckers coupons tonight!"  She was right!

I promise I am not extra large...Shelby is just extra small!!
Shelby took the girls to the restroom and Dave and I joked that it was like a mini date night since we were actually ALONE at a restaurant (greatest ten minute date I've ever been on. ha!)
Daddy has those girls brainwashed...of course, they were still on a daddy high since he had taken them to the Daddy-Daughter Valentine dance the night before...
silly faces!!!
mmmm...Mexican martini.  and at half price, I couldn't resist!
we made it!  a little late.  and then we got up every three minutes to take someone to the restroom or go get a snack...
Bonus!  Got to see my Karen!  {she was the Maid of Honor in my wedding}
Texas wins.  waaaaa!  Oh well, we still had fun!

Project 52 update

I am doing pretty well with my list...Dave and I had date night the other night {Gino's Italian restaurant is great!}.  I did get sick to my stomach right before we got there, so I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have.  The girls are well into swim lessons and loving them.  I have been cooking more and we have lots of fresh fruit in the house for snacks.  I updated the list on the link at the top if you really want to see the details.  :)  I am counting a trip to Disney at the end of March as "spontaneous".  Dave is off March 29-April 2, so we just out of the blue decided to book a trip to Orlando.  Flights were super cheap on Southwest, and we ended up finding a decent priced resort {even though we are apparently going during peak pricing season}.  Of course, we booked the flights first and then discovered it was peak pricing at Disney.  Oh well, it all worked out.  I am so excited to take the kids!  We are going to make it Aubrey's birthday celebration trip...and WE AREN'T TELLING THEM WE'RE GOING!  We are just going to wake up on that Thursday like it's a normal school day, but head to the airport instead.  Did I mention that I am excited!!!   Here are the girls on our last trip to Disney...they look so little!

In other news, we were told last week at Addy's 5 year check-up that she had 20/40 vision in her left eye and 20/30 in her right.  So yesterday we went to the eye doctor.  She was digging the glasses, and got a little upset when they decided she didn't need any right now.  ha!  I have to admit, she looked pretty cute.

Blake and I found a playscape outside the rec center where the girls take swim lessons.  We are LOVING this weather!!  Seriously, it is amazing.

And, for motivation...my brother and future sister-in-law came to cheer us on at the half marathon the other day {which I am just now recovering from, btw}.  It was so great to see them right at the end!  Shelby took a few pictures.  At the time she took my "action shot", I think I was barely moving and I was SO READY to see the finish line.  It was so sweet of them to come and it was awesome seeing them right at the end.  Gave me the last little boost of energy that I needed to make it to the end.  Thanks, Bink and Shelby!!
