The sights of summer

How I love summer.... no work, no worries....just hanging out in the backyard with the girls. It is a much needed break this year. Having a baby, a toddler, a full time job, and a healthy marriage takes a lot out of a girl. The last week of school was crazy, as usual, and I had strep throat on top of it all. Reminder to all women out there---antibiotics interfere with birth control---luckily the pharmacist told me that before I ended up with #3! Well, I better get some sleep while I can....Aubrey is still convinced that monsters live in her room. I thought we solved the problem by putting a mat on our floor, but who knew that monsters live on mommy and daddy's floor too? Try fitting two adults and a squirmy toddler in a queen size bed....goodnight.

My blue-eyed baby, Adelyn

Wow, I can't believe how time flies! Adelyn is already 5 months old! Dave and I figure she'll keep her blue eyes at this point, but we still can't believe she has them! According to Dave's genetics training, he came up with a 6% chance that she would have blue eyes. We just recently introduced solids, which she enjoys very much. You can tell by her dirty face/outfit in the picture with daddy. She is the best baby ever. She smiles all the time, she sleeps all night, and she puts up with her crazy family very well. We think we'll keep her.

A Snail's Pace

Yesterday, sitting in the backyard watching Aubrey swing, I couldn't help but notice a snail squirming along in the grass. It made me realize how incredibly fast paced our lives are and how many things we try to cram into a day's work. We never just take it easy and slow down to enjoy our surroundings. Taking this into consideration, I decided to point out the snail to Aubrey. I thought she would appreciate the cool, slow moving shell in the grass. However, I was wrong. She got one look at the slimy little thing, screamed, and ran into the house. I guess we'll have to work on her love of nature.
